Membership
Those attending Institute functions on a regular basis and wishing to express support for the Institute's activities are encouraged to apply for sustaining membership ($10.00 a month) by filling out a membership application. Associate membership ($10.00 a year) is the subscription to Zen Notes. Apart from the weekly open house, the Institute is for its members only.
Senior (voting) members are selected at Annual Corporate Meetings by the current voting membership and certified by the Institute's secretary. Senior members, in turn, elect the Institute's trustees, who serve three-year terms and elect the Institute's officers.
The Institute has a limited number of residential spaces for Zen students who are active members of the Institute. Residents take responsibility for cleaning, participate in Institute activities, and make regular donations that support the upkeep of the Institute. When vacancies occur, a notice will be posted, and qualified practicing members of the Institute are welcome to apply. |
Diversity Equity and Inclusion
All FZI members and visitors have the right to an environment free from all forms of unlawful discrimination, including harassment that in any way appear to contravene the laws of the United States of America and the state of New York. This includes unwelcome sexual advances, including touching, comments, etc. This has long been the policy of the FZI. It is appropriate for us to reiterate it from time to time.
It is FZI's policy to prohibit the harassment of anyone who is on the premises at any time. The purpose of this policy is not to regulate personal morality; rather, it is to ensure than everyone will be free from harassment on the basis of age, sex, race, color, national origin, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, citizenship and other personal characteristics protected by law.
